Who's writing this

I write about eating and drinking in Wrocław. Not professionally — I just spend a lot of time here and got tired of guidebook lists that hadn't been updated since 2019.

The rules

• Everything is paid for. No comped meals, no press dinners, no gifted drinks. If that ever changes, it will say so on the review.
• No affiliate links. Nothing on this site earns money if you book somewhere.
• At least one visit, ideally two. One bad night can happen to a good kitchen. A score below 8 usually means I went back and it was still off.
• Prices are real. What I actually paid, per person, food only unless stated.

What the stars mean

• ★★★★★ — worth planning a trip around. Kitchen, service and room all pulling the same direction.
• ★★★★ — very good. Go if you're in the city; something small holds it back.
• ★★★ — one half works and the other doesn't. Usually a strong kitchen let down by everything around it.
• ★★ and below — I generally don't publish these unless the place is well known enough that a warning is useful.

A great dinner is choreography, not just cooking. A room can serve flawless food and still lose two stars because the drinks arrived after the mains and nobody offered a pairing.

What's not here

Chains, hotel restaurants and anywhere with a photo menu on the Rynek. Not out of snobbery — they're just already easy to find.

Corrections and suggestions

Places change: chefs leave, prices rise, a bar gets bought. If something here is out of date, tell me and I'll fix it. Same if there's somewhere I've obviously missed.
